WHAT WILL
I LEARN?
Like many modern scuba diving courses which are modular, the Advanced Open Water course is broken-down into 2 parts: Theory, and open water training dives.
THEORY
10-12 HOURS TOTAL
Get ready for your open water training by completing the theory via the PADI eLearning platform. Download the course material then immerse yourself in the interactive presentations, which prepare you for the practical skills to be done at the Great Barrier Reef!
These modules cover all of the theory and assessments, meaning no further tests are needed once here in Port Douglas.
REEF
2 DAYS/6 DIVES
2 of the 5 required training dives are compulsory - 'Deep' and 'Navigation'; which gear you up for diving to 30m/100ft, and finding your way around a dive site using a compass and natural references.
Choose your other 3 dives from the following, based on whatever most grabs your attention: Boat, Digital Underwater Imaging (photo or video); Drift diving;
Fish Identification, and Search & Recovery.
There is also a 'Peak Performance Buoyancy' dive which is often considered an unofficial compulsory dive, where you will swim through hoops and play buoyancy games as you master your skills.
